Finance Club, IIT Roorkee is a collaboration among the finance enthusiasts of the campus to foster a permanent culture of finance in IIT Roorkee.
Founded in 2018, it is one of the fastest-growing societies in IITR. Its passionate members have a keen interest in the fields of equity research, algorithmic trading, economics, quant research, financial risk management, corporate finance, and many others.
Being a road less taken, to develop and maintain a culture of finance in a technical institute is not an easy task. To accomplish this we invite several guest speakers to share their views and experiences of the financial world, collaborate with corporates to provide varied learning and practical experiences, conduct workshops, and competitions for the campus students. In addition to this, we regularly publish blogs and financial keywords through our social media handles. For the overall growth of the club, we actively take part in organizing lectures, tests, and discussions, so that the club members are up to date with the financial world.
Members work on finance-related projects, one each semester with the aim of delivering the findings as a presentation with the other members
We conduct many finance related competitions including the annual Quantathon, a diverse competition on quantitative finance
We organise talks by calling in various financial experts. These offer a dive into financial topics, introducing students of IITR to new terms and concepts
We hold comprehensive and insightful discussions on some of the most happening finance-related topics for our members, wherein every member actively participates
We release blogs throughout the year on various financial topics and news. Through these blogs, we aim to explain the concepts and terms of the financial world in the easiest way possible
Soon, we will begin investing in the Indian equity markets with the help of capital raised from Finance Club Alumni. This will involve both Fundamental Investing and Quantitative Trading
